Waterloo Ghosts Rep division: TRYOUTS FOR 2024 TEAMS

There is a one-time tryout fee of $10 in divisions U13 through U19. OUR TRYOUT SCHEDULE IS AS FOLLOWS:
PLEASE NOTE THAT ANYONE INTERESTED IN PLAYING REP BALL IN WATERLOO MUST ATTEND AT LEAST TWO OF THE THREE POSTED REP TRYOUTS. If you have a conflict due to winter sport tryouts or a family commitment, please talk to your head coach as early as possible; every attempt will be made to reach an accommodation.
Please note that ALL attendees must pre-register for tryouts. More information will be provided to all pre-registrants, as we get closer to the tryouts.

U11 GOLD: Nathan Yager - Head Coach Nathan has been coaching girls fastpitch for four seasons. His first two seasons were spent as Assistant Coach in the U11 division with the Halton Hawks before a family move to Waterloo, where he acted as Assistant Coach for the U11 Black team for one season, prior to becoming the Head Coach for the U11 Gold team for the 2023 season. Nathan is a very dedicated coach who spends a lot of time fine-tuning his knowledge of the game and making detailed training plans. He sees the potential in each athlete and strives to recognize and foster their individual developmental needs. Read more . . . U13 GOLD: Yolande Charles - Head Coach Yolande is a student of the game of Softball, who – for over 30 years – has been involved in the game from different aspects: first as a player; then as a PWSA competition-trained coach of all ages and levels; also as an umpire; former Learning Facilitator with Softball Ontario; and recruiter for professional leagues in Italy, New Zealand, Netherlands and Denmark. Yolande has also prepared countless players for the recruitment process at the D1, D2 D3 levels in the U.S. Read more . . .
U13 BLACK: Richard Janzen - Head Coach Richard has coached in the Waterloo Minor Girls Softball Association for five years, in both our House League and Representative divisions. He fell in love with softball as a child and loves sharing the game with young players. Richard's goals for the upcoming season include ensuring that the girls have fun, learn something new, grow and develop their softball skills, and want to continue playing the sport.
U15 GOLD: Derrick Nowe - Head Coach Derrick has coached in the Waterloo Ghosts' organization for over ten years. He has coached in many different age groups, both as a parent coach and as a non-parent coach. In addition to being a valued member of the Waterloo Ghosts' Rep Division, Derrick is the Head Coach of the University of Guelph Gryphons Softball team. Derrick is a coach who believes in development through hard work and team unity. In his words, "I challenge my players, I don't push: there is a difference. Derrick looks forward to sharing his passion for the game, his knowledge of the game, and a ton of energy, enthusiasm, and dedication . . . all while having fun!
U15 BLACK: Jeff Pietraszko - Head Coach This is Jeff's first year with the Waterloo Ghosts' organization, although he is no stranger to the "diamond sports". He brings with him a wealth of elite and high-level baseball experience - over a period that spans three decades -- both as a player and as a coach . . . including multiple National Championships and many individual awards, In more recent years, Jeff has turned his focus and passion for the game to coaching softball. Jeff is committed to development, doing the little things, "playing the game properly", and having fun!
U15 Note: U15 Coaches believe that both teams could compete and play at the Tier I level
U17 GOLD: Angela Howard - Head Coach Angela began her coaching career in rural ball in 2004, where she assisted her teams to both league championships and ORSA finalists. She moved in coaching Rep ball in 2014 and has coached in the Waterloo Ghosts' Rep Division since 2019, where she is currently in the midst of an undefeated season! Angela's coaching philosophy focuses on the development of both the team and of the individual and she believes that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Angela is looking forward to a new challenge and is excited to bring her skills development and teamwork oriented approach to the Waterloo Ghosts U17 Gold team.
U17 GOLD: Doug Clements - Assistant Coach Doug has been coaching girls/women’s softball for over 15 years, but began coaching many years before that. Initially coaching his daughters’ softball teams at House League, Select, and Rep levels within various associations, Doug has continued coaching with the University of Waterloo Warriors and Waterloo Ghosts organizations as a non-parent coach. Doug’s coaching philosophy has always been based around dedication, focus, skill development, teamwork and fun, with respect for participants in all aspects of the game. Success on the field has usually followed. Doug is also a Trained Coach Developer and Evaluator for Softball Ontario.
U17 BLACK: Daniel Henderson - Head Coach Daniel has been coaching within the Waterloo Minor Girls Softball Association for over a decade, working with athletes from T-Ball through to u17. Since taking on the role of Head Coach for the Ghosts Black team in 2019, Daniel has focused on infusing players with a passion for the game of softball with an emphasis on development. His teams and players have been successful, winning several tournament medals (including gold at the 2022 PWSA Provincials), with several players now playing at the Tier 1 level. Read more . . .
